Being a professional artist is doing art for a profit. The percentage of art students that are doing art 5 years after they get a college Masters Degree is only 5% That is horrible odds. Needless  to say it takes a lot of tenacity and some talent to make it as an artist. I asked my Mentor Niel Hadlock  when I was young in my 20’s about an art career and he advised me to give it 10 thousand hours and not expect any returns for ten year.

It is a shame not more people can have a creative out-let. Children love to scribble a mark like they like to hold hands and skip. As a person matures they often become less spontaneous and place greater expectations on themselves. Sadly the pleasure to create becomes more difficult. I teach an adult private class once a week for two hours. I believe anyone can make wonderful art and really have enjoyment doing it.  Its a matter of just setting aside a little time.

Provide your children with art supplies. Give them art lessons. They can start as young as 6 years old. I teach a few children’s art classes. One on Monday afternoon to children between ages 6-10 years old. on Thursday I teach a teen group. In both sessions I provide materials and do a variety of projects according to their ages abilities.   We paint , Sculpt, throw pots, and draw. The cost is $10 per student per hour. the older class is 2 hours long and the younger class is 1 hour.
